Nuna Baby Essentials, Inc. (Nuna) Recall Notice
Nuna Baby Essentials, Inc. has identified a defect in the Nuna Rava Convertible Car Seats manufactured between July 16, 2016, and October 25, 2023. The defect involves debris entering the area where the front harness adjuster button is located, which may prevent the adjuster mechanism from properly securing the harness. This can result in a loose harness, increasing the risk of injury during a crash.
Recall Information
Nuna is working with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) on this voluntary recall. Affected owners can register to receive a free remedy kit, which will include:
- A new seat pad (with installation instructions)
- Instructions for checking harness functionality
- If necessary, instructions and tools for cleaning the harness adjuster area, or an option to contact Nuna for assistance
The new seat pad design will cover the plastic harness button area, helping to prevent debris from entering the harness adjuster mechanism.
What Should Consumers Do?
Until consumers receive their remedy kit, they can continue using their Rava car seat, as long as the harness is properly securing the occupant according to the existing instruction manual and labels.
How to Check the Harness Functionality:
To check the harness functionality, consumers should:
- Push on the seat back with one hand
- Pull the harness straps firmly with the other hand
The harness should remain locked and not lengthen during this test. If the harness lengthens, consumers should stop using the seat immediately and contact Nuna.
